RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh remains one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities, according to new information from the U.S. Census.
The website 24/7 Wall Street analyzed Census data and ranked Raleigh No. 5 among the countries fastest-growing cities in recent years.

Raleigh added 8,700 private sector jobs in 2011, a 2.14 percent increase that was the 17th highest in the country. That’s according to a new American City Business Journals study that examined preliminary data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to estimate 2011’s private-sector employment totals for the nation’s 100 biggest metros.
